Mint (Spearmint)

Spearmint (Mentha spicata) A perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae), native to Europe and Asia. It grows upright with bright green, lance-shaped, serrated leaves and produces spikes of pink or white flowers in summer. Valued for its refreshing, mild mint flavor and aroma. Traditionally used in herbalism for digestion, nausea relief, and as a calming tea. Warning: May worsen acid reflux or heartburn in sensitive individuals due to relaxation of the esophageal sphincter. Large amounts may interact with certain medications metabolized by the liver.
